Since opening our first Mi Pueblo on Bee Ridge Road in 1999, we’ve been lucky enough to be part of so many of your family moments - birthdays, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, and plenty of ordinary nights out that turned into traditions.

Over the years, we’ve watched kids grow up, come back with families of their own, and keep choosing Mi Pueblo. For a small, family-owned business, that means more to us than we can really put into words. Your support is what keeps us going and motivates us to keep doing what we love.

Mi Pueblo Mexican Restaurant was founded in 1999 by two cousins from Mexico who spent their childhood summers working on their Abuelo’s Ranches, in the mountains of Chihuahua. It was on these Ranches that both their love of their traditional hometown cuisine and their entrepreneurial spirits were born.

By merging their Abuela’s cherished family dishes with their restaurant industry experience, co-founders Bonifacio Caro and Hugo Nunez created Mi Pueblo to share their appreciation of North Mexican cuisine in an authentic atmosphere. To our family, honoring the recipes we enjoyed growing up on ranches in Chihuahua is our way of sharing our home town heritage with each of our guests. And so we chose the name “Mi Pueblo”, meaning “My Hometown”.

Since then, Mi Pueblo has been fortunate to expand to three locations- convenient to local attractions like Siesta Key, Venice Beach and University Town Center (UTC). Over the past 25 years, we have been honored to have been recognized by local publications in Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton, earning awards like “Best Margarita,” “Best Taco,” and “Best Mexican Restaurant.”

Celebrating our 25th Anniversary this December, we are considered to be the Oldest Mexican Restaurant in Sarasota and are proudly still family owned and operated to this day.
